Set up a lightweight decision log that records what was decided, why, on which assumptions and who owns it, then use an AI assistant to draft entries from your meeting notes and messages.

What you will be able to do

  • Know what every entry needs: Write entries with a clear decision statement, rationale, alternatives considered, checkable assumptions, owner, date and status, so each one stands on its own months later.
  • Turn notes and messages into draft entries: Ask an approved AI assistant to fill the log fields only from the text you give it, with a source quote for each field. Then check every field against the source before you save it.
  • Make responsibility visible: Name one accountable owner per decision, record who had decision rights separately from who contributed, and note the next follow-up and its due date.
  • Record changes without rewriting history: Tell a correction apart from a real change in direction, log the change as its own entry, and link it to the original so anyone can see what you knew then and what changed.
  • Catch overdue follow-ups early: Run a short recurring review of open entries, overdue owners and assumptions due for checking, and decide for each one whether to confirm, follow up, escalate or log a change.
  • Keep sensitive material where it belongs: Keep board discussions, acquisition plans and employee details out of tools your organization has not approved, and write entries that point to a secure source instead of copying the details.
